Anyway – here’s a bit of work I’ve done for a poster for the band Laura Monk and High Cotton. There’s a CD coming out soon as well, I’ll post it after it goes to print =)

Ok – so I’ve been a little lax with postings, but give me a little slack – i’m trying to move my apartment right now (and I have some other great things going on =D ), and I’ve had little time to create, let alone post anything.
However, I took a break today to work on some stuff for a ministry initiative I’m trying to flesh out still, and I took a break from that to make this, mucho thanks to Mark for the core idea….

I wanted to make something new for all of my computers and my ipad and my phone for The Orange Conference this year – so I came up with this little design last night. I’ve modeled it after the OSX System Preference Icon, and, well, I think it’s pretty swell. Here’s a small version of one of the designs – I’ll post the other one later.

And here’s a version that’s rendered incorrectly, but I happen to rather like it.
Ok – so – my small group leader suggested that I do another one of these things for the next 5-10 years – a strategic life plan – basically, it’s like a business plan for those of you who have never done one.
So, I thought to myself, “I’ve never used Illustrator before! Also – I don’t know how to make those cool ribbons either!”
After tonight, neither of those statements are true anymore. No tutorials were used, though I did have some helpful suggestions from a good friend – thanks Scott!
Here’s what I have come up with so far:

Meh.
So when I’m not working, taking photographs, painting, drawing, or otherwise involved with something, I’m working on a little side project for work. You see, I’ve yet to find an all in one application to handle changelogs on servers – as in – an audit trail, so to speak on things that individuals do to servers – with in depth detail as to what’s going on.
So, naturally, I’m making my own – from the ground up. Design, layout, functionality – I’m doing all of it. I’m about halfway there, and would love any constructive criticism on the design – I probably won’t actually change anything if it’s too massive of a change (due strictly to the nature of the task at hand – it’s not mission critical), but any opportunity to learn more good practices is one that I will take.
