New Paintings – “Distress” and “Myoce”

Here’s two new ones, fresh and… unusually abstract?

The first, “Distress” was originally supposed to be something else (and not actually abstract, at that) but the base painting i was doing ended up intriguing me so much i decided to leave it as it is, and worked on the form a bit more to give it the image it has.

And this one, called Myoce for now, is the base layer for something completely else – that will hopefully end up exactly as i have in my mind.

Which usually means there will be a lot of wasted canvas =D

Kindling – Groundwork

Today I started on the canvas/texture for a piece that I’m tentatively calling “Kindling.” (No, the similarity to a certain tablet device’s name is not lost on me…)

Unfortunately, as the Matt Medium dries, and the pages regain their opacity, I’m starting to like it without any paint.

Oh, well, we shall see.  What I have in my head is pretty spectacular – perhaps there will be two occasions to burn books?

For the record – War and Peace burns most rapidly, almost uncontrollably, and the 1950 edition of the American International Encyclopedia burns like firewood – quite nice if it weren’t for all the fumes from the ink of the time…
